My work uses children to explore creolization, and integration of found objects as artifacts and conduits of memory. Children are conjurers, welcoming with their innocence and purity, a spirit open to ancestors and a reclaiming of their history. Hybridization of African cultural traditions and those of the Americas act as a means of survival, subversive rebellion and autonomy from those that would otherwise oppress them.
